My family moved often throughout my childhood, so I grew to appreciate the inevitability of change and the vastness of a home that was not rooted in one place, but stretched from Port Angeles, Washington to Los Angeles, California. I found solace in my imagination and wove the places I went and people I met into intricate narratives as a way of exploring the world around me. As I grew up, writing was my preferred medium while photography was a fleeting interest. But when words failed—the visual, more abstract representations took their place.

Over the years, photography has provided me with an outlet for everything I’ve kept bottled up when I didn’t understand it enough to write or speak about it. Time and time again, I’ve turned to my artwork to act as a bridge between myself and others. It was a language of my own—a safe way for me to unveil my vulnerability. Not a fix-all and no endgame in mind, only a desperate need for understanding. And sometimes, I find that I get to act as the translator for others, helping them to share something about themselves as well.

Here you’ll find a collection of stories—
inspired by the people surrounding me each day and the plethora of conflicting emotions I’ve experienced
over my lifetime.

Currently, I am based in Seattle and work in communications at a Los Angeles nonprofit, splitting my time between the PNW and Southern California. I shoot exclusively film these days and am focusing on a handful of ongoing projects. Photographs are developed and scanned by myself, Indie Film Lab, and Blue Moon Camera Lab.

A few words…

My photography is a collaborative process and perhaps more important than the final products you’ll find here—however therapeutic they may be—are the human connections made between artists standing together fully-clothed in freezing water, wandering aimlessly through forests until stopped by a child enamored with the one dressed like Artemis, or sitting across from one another—one on the back of the couch, the other planted on the coffee table. I owe everything to these creative and brilliant souls who continue to teach me about friendship, respect, kindness, art, and vulnerability. The photographs featured here are as much their stories as they are mine. Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to come along with me on this journey and allowed me to be part of theirs.
